    Royal Enfield in India is synonymous with power, old-school style and longevity. The company in India started all those years ago, when the only way to achieve a truly masculine image was with a powerful motorcycle, and has changed little since. But with the introduction of the Unit Construction Engine (UCE), Royal Enfield has made considerable progress in roaring into the future. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark is one of the few powerhouses that the company puts out. We got a chance to review the bike, and we’ll just say the experience was exhilarating. Yes, recently RE unleashed its stunning Classic model upon India, but the Thunderbird continues to take bikers by storm.

      i am planning to purchase Thunderbird by next week.I need know is if i can change the thunderbird silencer with the enfield classics bend silencer as i really loved it. also if i can change the tyres of thunderbird with the 500cc classics as i find thunderbirds tyres a little too big for my liking. will it affect the balance of the bike or the ground clearence, also i am not sure it smaller tyres will look cool on the thunderbird…?
      please help me with your valuabe suggestion.

      I had booked my Thunder Bird on June 26th 2010, after a lot of follow up and a constant emails to the area manager MR.Deepak and Jayanagar showroom manager Mr. Kalyan, i got my bike on November 3rd!
      The response to the emails are really good and quick.
      I had a minor problems though!!
      Firstly,
      After taking the delivery, by the time i took the bike home, i noticed a defect on my exhaust. There was deep bubble like marks( i don’t exactly know how to describe it), and worst it started to rust.The tank cap was amazingly tight thanks to the fat rubber inside. The showroom guy adjusted with a screw driver but it dint help as it got sealed completely and i was not able to open it at all!
      The worst happened 4 days later, my bird got drenched slightly in rain (for about 5 mins) and i couldn’t start at all!!!
      i pushed my bike 1 km and parked it at my garage. When i tried the self start, the neutral light went completely invisible, i kicked and i kicked and i kicked but my bike refused to start. I felt really disgusted since this bike with all its legacy,fan following, the price tag, the wait period etc etc, had problems within 4 days of delivery!
      I called up the enfield mechanic, and sent a email to customer support immediately. The mechanic promptly sent his assistant to my place the next day morning and he said that the battery had some fungus!! and he cleaned it up and my bike roared again!
      He asked me to come by the service station and get my bike checked up throughly, i did take it down there and he replaced my exhaust and a faulty indicator. A slightly smaller rubber was fitted to my tank cap and it worked like a charm.

      Even after all the small snags, i really love the bike!! the folks down in the showroom and service are really helpful. Its been 6 days today, and the bike’s doing pretty well. I am keeping at 40-45 at around 2k rpm.

      Contrary to what people say, i think its an excellent city commute bike, i work in a software company in Bangalore and the traffic here is mind blowing. I don’t find any difference in handling the traffic in a pulsar(my previous bike) and the bird.

      I am waiting for the bike to complete at least a 1000km to take it on a high way.

      I’ve been driving Thunderbird since last 5 years & have planned to buy new TBTS UCE with thorough check. I completely disagree with the above comments where so many problems were highlighted like oil leakage, vibrations etc infact this new Unit construction engine is so reliable and effecient that RE will be introducing it in his all bikes by 2011. I’m die hard fan of RE, they dont produce racing bikes but they produce great bikes. By the way even Yamaha RX 100 too had oil leakage problem if reved over normal limts so does that means it was a crap? Use your brains guys !!! RE is not for everyone, one needs a big heart to sit on it.

      Guys , i agree with you’ll the service cener sucks like its engine , the engine is very noisy , got this TBTS going through its specks , RE 500 is far too good when compared to my bike , I had to change the silencer to a free flow GoldStar , so i could listen to the Thump , but its got good power trust me on that , but then you dont feel like taking this bike on an open highway ,
      any one planing to buy this bike pleas just drop the plan… Go for a Standard Classic or the 500

      i m a girl wighting 48kg and ht 5'2". i want to buy Thunderbird as my first bike.everybody tells me to buy scooty, but m actually not fond of them and i love bikes. do u guys think i should go 4 it. i wont need it for any daily travell. its just 4 fun and pleasure.please help!!!

      @ bhavna there is absolutely no prob in goin for an enfield!!! here in uk many women are riding bikes.... don't listen to any one.. let us know when your bike arrives...gud luck !!!

      i like your attitude and style.. The bike is well balanced so its easy to handle and you realise you arent carry the bike,, its actually also the safest bike around...the seat can easily be lowered just if you want and it looks better...
