Balancing act by 'Shwet Ashwa'




BANGALORE: The motorcycle display team of the military police, popularly known as ‘Shwet Ashwa’ (White Horse) performed a well-coordinated and spectacular display of dare-devil stunts on 350CC Royal Enfield motorcycles at the Dronacharya Parade Ground at the CMP Centre and School on Wednesday.
Shwet Ashwa team comprising of 35 riders is led by Naib Subedar MG Rajan. The display was witnessed by Maj Gen SS Jog, Provost Marshal of Indian Army and Brig AK Singh, Commandant of CMP Centre and School.A host of army personnel and their families also witnessed the event.Shwet Ashwa team, on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of CMP on 18 Oct 1999, created the world record by carrying 151 men on 11 Motor Cycle travelling a distance of 215 meters.

The team has the unique distinction of performing for the opening ceremonies of various national and international sporting events. This display team was formed in 1952 at Faizabad (UP). It was specially selected to participate in the opening ceremonies of the Asian Games in 1982.The Team has also performed during Army Day and Republic Day Parade 2007, Army Day 2008 and Passing Out Parade at OTA, Chennai.
