Himalayan Motorbike Challenge July 2011 To Raise Money For Children’s Home Announced
Saturday, January 8, 2011
Challenges Abroad has just launched an exciting Himalayan Motorbike Challenge. It’s an 18 day journey, on a Royal Enfield Bullet Motorbike, from Delhi across high mountain passes and remote roads into Ladakh. The challenge will raise money for Lotus Flower Trust who are building a children’s home to enable children from remote villages access to a proper education that they would otherwise not.
Arvind Malhotra, Chief Executive of Challenges Abroad explains, “We have seen an increasing demand for challenging travel experiences and a growing popularity of meaningful holidays. Our motorbike challenge is a unique program which combines an adventure on two wheels with the chance to make a real difference to the children of remote villages in Ladakh. We are offering challengers the chance to return from their holiday feeling a real sense of achievement and making a difference.”
John Hunt of The Lotus Flower Trust said of the project, “we were approached by the Buddhist Authorities in Ladakh. They wanted help to fund and build a school to accommodate at least 100 children whose families all live over the high passes away from the capital Leh. Whist many of the children in the villages do go to school the standard of education is poor. By coming into the new school, which will also become their home for 9 months of the year, it will ensure they are given a real chance of improving their life skills.”
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £250 to contribute to the project.
The strap line of the Lotus Flower Trust is “Changing children’s lives forever”, with your support we certainly will be doing that.
Grab your helmet and let’s go!
