High on Himalaya - actor arshad warsi on royal enfield

Arshad Warsi is on a high these days, and quite literally so. This time, it has got nothing to do with the films he is doing; the actor is just back after a thrilling biking expedition in Ladakh with his trusted companion, a Royal Enfield 350 Electra. A thrilled Arshad, who still can’t get over the experience, says, “I am the first actor to take such a trip. I lived on roads and in tents, slept under the blue sky, ate momo and also learnt the traditional way of making bread butter. It was the most humbling experience.”
He now believes that everyone should go on a trip to the mountains of Leh Ladakh. “The terrain, the mountains, the rivers, the lakes — they are all so beautiful and magnificent that they make you realise how small a creature you are when compared to the vastness of nature.” Arshad kick-started his expedition in Manali. “On the first day itself, when we set off from Manali, we rode for 11 hours. We left at dawn and then rested at a place called Jasba. The next day we travelled for nine hours and post that we kept it to three hours a day,” he recalls.

So, did he ever get mobbed by his fans? “People who saw me thought I was a duplicate of Arshad Warsi. They even suggested that I make a living as his duplicate!” laughs the actor. Eventually, people came to know who he really was. “They surprised me with gifts, offered me tea. They told me they loved my movies,” says Arshad.

Scaling the toughest terrains of the country didn’t come easy. Arshad had close shaves on quite a few occasions. “Once I almost fell off the cliff when my bike skid. Luckily it stopped right at the edge of the cliff. That’s when I realised how important it is to be a good human being. The trip on the whole made me realise there’s more to life than just being an actor,” says the actor.
